Wake Up! LinkedIn Is Not For Porn!

linkedin sales Oct 06, 2020

Why are you on the internet? As the song goes: ‘for porn’. “You can research, browse and shop…until you’ve had enough and you’re ready to stop! For porn!” For those who haven’t ever heard of the song; let’s get honest: LinkedIn is not sexy. Your mindset is less bubbly when you’re in LinkedIn than when you’re scrolling to some beautifully photoshopped foodies’ accounts on Instagram, or looking for old school friends on Facebook. At LinkedIn, you feel like being at work. And although you might love your job, you might associate social media channels rather with leisure.

You might associate LinkedIn with HR, Job Search and boring white collar environments. But it’s so easy to create a narrative that inspires people with your LinkedIn-profile. Especially because it’s still in this somewhat old-fashioned sphere. The LinkedIn-team has added quite some surprising segmentation variables. Your posts are pushed in the way Facebook has at the beginning (2011). A lot has happened since then and you might not want to miss this boat.

What if we had a solution to invest your time wisely in combining marketing automation with a human touch? Communication won’t be taken over by automated systems. There is no empathy in robots. And sales are all about creating a trustworthy relationship. Scanning all accounts manually and adding the persons of which you think they might be interesting for you is way too time-consuming. It could work as a mindfulness exercise but I guess you’ll fall a sleep quite quickly. Blindly dropping your exquisite expertise without a clear strategy won’t really work.

What’s your goal?

Build your personal brand awareness: give yourself and your company proof of existence. Use LinkedIn as a stretch of your (corporate) website. Use your LinkedIn profile as a easily adaptable business card. You might take part in discussion panels in certain niche groups (LinkedIn groups) to claim your professionalism / knowledge. The organic reach of your regular LinkedIn-post is huge. Using LinkedIn is a genius way to broaden your network with all kinds of stakeholders. The question that should pop up is: who do I want to reach?

Engage with your target audience & generate qualified leads: the LinkedIn Search application is so easy to use. F.e. You want to connect with ‘app development engineers’. Just type in your search inquiry at the ‘persons’ section. Clicking on them one per one is quite time consuming. When is the last time you invited clients, new leads or networking introductions to connect? Adapt your tag line to your niche to get attention.

Sell your product or service: use your talents as it’s still cheap & organic. Social networks are story telling boards. Keep you focus on the sphere on LinkedIn: it’s business wise, but more and more people work from home, no?

How to reach your goals?

People and faces make a huge difference in the ability of a social post to drive traffic to content.

Take change on the opportunities LinkedIn offers. Set-up a clear strategy: what’s your message and for whom? How many posts will you add daily and at what time? Wednesday 08:00-10:00 a.m., Thursday 01:00-14:00 p.m. and Friday 09:00 a.m. turn out to be the ideal times to share your views on LinkedIn. *sproutsocial.com
